How do hints work?: In three stages, and you choose how far to go. A nudge points at a region and nothing else. Show Explanation names the technique and lays out its reasoning — what it observed, which rule applies, what follows. Apply Step places the digit, and a single Undo reverses it. The board is never touched until you ask.
What do the four difficulties mean?: They describe which solving techniques a puzzle will actually demand, and how tightly its deductions depend on one another — not how many clues it starts with. Each card tells you what it will ask of you before you begin.
Why was my entry marked wrong when it broke no rule?: That is Mistake Guard, which compares your entry against the puzzle’s solution. A digit can be legal in its row, column and box and still not be the right one. Turn it off in Settings if you would rather find out for yourself; you will still be told about genuine duplicates.
Does the timer keep running in the background?: No. It counts active play only. It stops the moment the app leaves the foreground, and it stops while paused, so a phone call never costs you a personal best.
Where are my statistics stored?: On your device, and nowhere else. There is no account and no server. That also means they do not follow you to a new phone — and that deleting the app deletes them.
How do I start over?: In a puzzle, tap More → Restart Puzzle. To clear everything, use Settings → Delete Local Data. Both confirm first and tell you exactly what will go.
Is it accessible?: Yes. Every cell announces its position and contents to VoiceOver, Dynamic Type is supported to the largest sizes, Reduce Motion is respected, and every state carries a shape or weight cue rather than colour alone — so conflicts and selections stay readable in grayscale. A high-contrast board option is in Settings.
Does it need an internet connection?: Never. Puzzles are generated on your device, and every one is verified to have exactly one solution before you see it.
